FAQ's
What do I need for a roadworthy in QLD?

All you need to do is book your inspection online with Rivercity Roadworthys. Your braked Caravan or Camper Trailer (up to and including 4.5-tonne ATM) should be positioned on a flat, hard surface with enough space around it for a full visual inspection. Please ensure the trailer is clean, accessible so components such as lights, tyres, brakes, wheel bearings, coupling, safety chains, chassis, and structural elements can be properly checked.
If a flat or spacious area cannot be provided at your home, a nearby side street or another safe open location can be used.
If you live in an apartment building or complex, please use a visitor parking area or loading bay, as this speeds up the process and ensures a smooth inspection. Most basement car parks have limited internet access, which is required to issue your Trailer Roadworthy Safety Certificate.
Please make sure your trailer has a charged breakaway battery (if fitted), a functioning electrical plug, and tyres in suitable condition before the inspection begins.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOUR TRAILER IS NOT REGISTERED IN QLD OR HAS BEEN UNREGISTERED FOR MORE THAN 3 MONTHS, YOU WILL REQUIRE A HVRAS MEASURE UP ALONG WITH YOUR ROADWORTHY. You can book this on the Booking page "Roadworthy with HVRAS"
For more information, please visit the FAQ page in the menu or call 0409 870 059.

NOTE: Trailers on hills, grass, dirt, mud and rocks will NOT be accepted
How long does a mobile roadworthy take?

It depends. I aim for around 40 mins - 1hr for most trailer types when presented on a hard flat surface and adequate room.
Please note: You do not have to present for the Inspection.
What can fail a QLD roadworthy?

Silly things that fail a QLD Roadworthy for braked Caravan and Camper trailers (up to and including 4.5-tonne ATM) include:
• Tyres with less than 1.5 mm of tread in the primary tread area
• Tyres with damaged or cracked sidewalls
• Non-working lights (taillights, brake lights, indicators, number plate light)
• Oil or grease leaks from hubs or brakes
• Missing or damaged reflectors
• Cracked, bent, or cut chassis or drawbar components
• Non-compliant or damaged couplings and safety chains
• Faulty or out-of-adjustment brakes, including electric, hydraulic, or override systems
• Non-functional breakaway systems (where fitted)
• Loose wheel bearings
• Electrical plug faults or intermittent lighting
• Damaged suspension components
If you are unsure, please visit the LINKS page in the menu and select Trailer Standards for guidance. Alternatively, you can call me on 0409 870 059 if you have any questions before you book.
If your trailer fails its initial inspection, you have 14 days to rectify the defects so it can pass the Roadworthy. Minor issues can often be cleared using photos, videos, or professional repair invoices, but major defects will require a re-inspection, charged at $55 inc. GST.
If you'd like, I can also write versions for caravans, boat trailers, box trailers, horse floats, or any specific trailer type.
