After a long road of study, exams and regulatory paperwork, Rivercity Roadworthy's and Mechanical is now licensed by Resources Safety and Health Queensland to issue mobile gas compliance certificates for caravans and camper trailers across Brisbane and Redlands.

Queensland Gas Work Licence (Servicing and caravan certification): LIC-GWL-030486
Why this matters for caravan and camper trailer owners
Until now, if you needed a gas certificate for your caravan or camper trailer — to sell it, register it, insure it, or just for peace of mind — you typically had to find a separate gas fitter to come out on a separate day, charging a separate trade fee.
We're now one of the few mobile operators in Brisbane and Redlands able to issue both your roadworthy certificate and your gas compliance certificate in a single visit. That means:
One booking instead of two
One trade fee instead of two
Half a day saved
Two certificates in hand at the end of the visit
What's covered under this licence
My Gas Work Licence authorises me to:
Service existing Type A gas appliances (cookers, ovens, fridges, heaters, water heaters)
Test gas systems and appliances for fault finding
Repair existing Type A gas appliances
Certify existing Type A gas systems in caravans and camper trailers
Disconnect and reconnect appliances for servicing purposes
All inspections follow AS/NZS 5601.2 — the Australian and New Zealand standard for gas installations in caravans, motor homes and similar mobile dwellings.
What's not covered
Being upfront about scope is part of doing this work properly. The licence does not cover:
Installing new or replacement gas appliances
Modifying the design, layout or operating parameters of a gas system
Work on pipes, regulators, cylinders or meters beyond inspection and testing
Electrical work (a separate Restricted Electrical Licence is required)
If your job needs any of the above, I can still inspect, identify the issue, and refer you to a fully licensed gas installer for the work.
When you might need a gas compliance certificate
Selling your van or camper — buyers and dealers expect a current certificate
Insurance — new policies or claims may require documented compliance
After repairs — re-certification confirms the system is safe to use again
Transfer of ownership — commonly bundled with the roadworthy
Routine compliance — best practice every 12 to 24 months for safety and resale value

What's included in the inspection
Every gas compliance inspection follows AS/NZS 5601.2 and covers:
Gas cylinder mounting, restraint and ventilation
Regulator and hose condition (including date stamps)
Gas piping, connections and joint integrity
Full pressure and leak testing with a calibrated manometer
Ventilation, flue clearances and draught diverters
Appliance condition and operation
Isolation valves and safety devices
Cylinder valves and overflow protection
Compliance plate and labelling
If everything passes, the certificate is issued on the spot. You also receive a signed Gas Safety Acknowledgement so both of us have a record of the safety briefing.
